Fraud Detector plants trees.

Fraud Detector receives a small commission whenever someone is referred to a webshop and then places an order. We have decided to use a part of this commission to plant trees. With the other part of the comission, we can maintain this website and perform regular updates. Do you want to read more? Click here.

How does this work?

1: Test the website before you want to order something.

The website and tools are built entirely on a voluntary basis. Thanks to all participating websites and our sponsors, we are able to maintain this website and keep it free from ads.

About the Website Checker / Scam Checker

Every day, many people fall victim to online scams. A shame—because it’s often easy to prevent. With the website checker from Fraud Detector, you can quickly and easily check any website for free. This tool is specially designed to make website checking as easy as possible. No technical knowledge is needed, and the result is easy to understand.

Fraud Detector is entirely built on a voluntary basis. If we’ve helped you, we’d love to hear it! Suggestions are also always welcome. Have an idea for a new tool or think something isn’t working correctly? Let us know!

What can you use the website checker for?

With this tool, you can check any link, URL, website or webshop. If you receive a suspicious link in an email, just copy and paste it on our site.

You can also check QR codes. With our free mobile app, it’s even easier to test websites and links, and see if a QR code is safe to scan.

How does the website checker work?

When you check a website, our tool first gathers relevant data. Based on that, a powerful AI makes a reliable prediction about the website’s safety. Because our website tester is free, we’re able to regularly update and improve it based on what we learn.

Even though the AI is well-trained and constantly improving, there’s a chance that the result isn’t correct. This doesn’t happen often, but it’s important to remember:

This tool is a guide, not a guarantee. You are always responsible for your own choices.

Fraud Detector and Privacy

At Fraud Detector, your privacy matters. That’s why we don’t link data to users, and we don’t use cookies or automatic ads.

That doesn’t mean we store nothing at all. For example, we track which websites are being tested — this helps us improve our AI. We also provide transparency about where website data is routed.

Why Fraud Detector Focuses on European Websites

Fraud Detector was built for Europe from the very beginning. While many similar tools are American or operate globally, we believe Europe shouldn’t have to rely on U.S.-based systems to stay safe online. Europe has strong laws around privacy, consumer rights, and transparency — and we wanted to build a website checker that respects exactly that.

When we started, almost all existing website checkers were U.S.-based. There simply wasn’t a reliable European alternative yet. That’s why we built our own tool: a free website checker made 100% in Europe, where your privacy comes first.

Today, our tool is used by hundreds of people every day. That helps us detect many scam websites early — often before they show up on blacklists. Users can see right away if a webshop is legit, even when it’s new or unfamiliar.
  • If a webshop targets European customers, it must follow EU rules — which gives us the tools to take action.
  • Outside Europe, there’s little regulation — and that’s where most scams originate.

Our focus on Europe means we can test trustworthiness more accurately, respond faster, and keep your data local.
With our free website checker, we’re making the internet in Europe safer — every single day.

How does the website checker work?

Website Checker - Use our free tool to test if a website is reliable or not.

Our tool is powered by AI and analyzes multiple aspects of a website, including:

✔️ Checking our whitelist & blacklist

✔️ Reviewing the website’s age

✔️ Verifying the SSL certificate type

✔️ Identifying the hosting location, page content, and more

We regularly add new checks and updates to enhance accuracy!

Our tool is trained on a large dataset that we created based on tested websites. After thorough data preparation and preprocessing, we trained multiple models and selected the best-performing one for fraud detection.

Want register a new website for free?

Our website checker works automatically, but for new websites, there may not be enough data for an accurate assessment yet. You can register a new website for free, and our team will manually verify it to improve accuracy.

How to Check If a Webshop Is Legit — Manually

Want to be sure a webshop is safe? Don’t just rely on our website checker — do a quick manual website check yourself. Scammers are getting smarter, and while our automatic website checker catches a lot, it’s not always perfect.

That’s why we recommend using our website checker and also doing a quick manual check.

Below you’ll find a quick guide with the key things you can check yourself. For the full version, head over to our detailed checklist page.

🔍 1. Check the Reviews

Search the webshop’s name followed by the word “reviews” or “experiences.”

If nothing shows up? That’s suspicious.

If reviews do appear, pay attention to negative experiences:

  • Did customers actually receive their products?
  • Were complaints handled seriously or ignored completely?

⚠️ Beware: Reviews shown on the webshop itself are often not reliable — they can be added by the owner and don’t reflect real customer feedback.

📦 2. Is It a Dropshipping Site?

Many dropshipping webshops look professional but simply ship low-quality products directly from China. These shops may be registered (e.g., with the Chamber of Commerce), but experiences are often poor. Returning products is expensive — or not possible at all.

Common dropshipping red flags:

•Delivery time over a week? That’s a big warning.

•Returns to foreign addresses, at your own cost? Most likely dropshipping.

💳 3. Payment Methods & Site Security

Only offering credit card or PayPal? That’s suspicious.

Legit webshops usually offer multiple trusted payment methods — like iDEAL, Bancontact, Klarna, or Riverty.

⚠️ Limited payment options may mean the webshop just wants to collect money quickly, without offering real support after the sale.

🧠 4. Use Common Sense

Is the deal too good to be true? Is the language weird or poorly translated? Does the site feel vague or impersonal?

Trust your gut — if something feels off, it probably is. Better safe than sorry.

This quick manual website check helps you spot red flags. Combine it with our free website checker or use the full checklist for a more in-depth review.
